Welcome to Co‑operative and Mutual Business Services (CMBS)
About CMBS
CMBS was formed by a number of leading associations in the co‑operative and mutual sector to provide business services to the sector and for the benefit of the sector.
CMBS is currently working on a response to an announcement by the Financial Services Authority of its intention to put out to tender (outsource) its Mutual Societies Registration Administration. Membership
CMBS is a co‑operative registered as an Industrial and Provident Society. CMBS is owned and controlled by its members.
Membership is open to any organisation that represents, or sponsors model rules for, Industrial and Provident Societies (both co‑operative and community benefit societies), Friendly Societies, Mutual and Co‑operative Insurers, Building Societies and Credit Unions. (Please refer to our FAQs for more information about these types of businesses, what they do and how they are structured)
