Governance & Participation Project Aims

The Project Aims:

• To enhance the knowledge and understanding of organisational forms which have a strong democratic or participatory element.
• To research and develop options for participatory governance which are innovative and new to the public arena.
• To enhance the knowledge and sustainability of community-based groups by providing support to their advisors and development bodies.

The G&P Project developed a training programme, website resources and a telephone helpline for development bodies and community development workers who work to build the capacity of local community groups. This may include your local:

• Co‑operative Development Body.
• Bussiness Link.
• Development Trust Assoication.
• Council for Voluntary Service.
• Rural Community Council.
• Local Authority Voluntary Sector Team.
• Development Workers at your local community building (Village Hall or Community Centre)
