Developing good governance in an organisation can be the best investment that a small and/or new community group makes. Effective governance is one part of the jigsaw that completes the picture for a successful, strong and resilient organisation.
Successful Governance is about having an effective governing body, who are able to set priorities, provide leadership and be transparent and accountable for their decisions.

The following pages will provide an outline of what governance is, how it differs from management, the various models of governance, and how governing bodies can recognise the diverse aspects of governance.
